Piano Companion is a dictionary of piano chords and scales with user libraries and a reverse mode with a chord progression generator. Our free app has a circle of fifths with compatible chords (or a chord wheel). Using circle of fifths and chord progression generator, you can compose and learn songs, play chords and scales. You can compose music with our real piano and use your MIDI keyboard to play and record songs. It also helps you to learn music theory.
If you don’t remember the name of a chord or scale, this application will help you find it with keys (or MIDI keyboard). For example, just press C, G and you’ll get C Major as the first chord in the search result. If you don’t see a match, you can create a custom chord and use it for chord diagrams or your user library.
The Piano Companion app shows chord and scale notes, degrees, fingerings for both hands in major and minor scales – and you can also create your own custom fingerings. In addition, you can listen to the sound of a scale or chord in the loop or arpeggio and other music theory information. You can see the list of compatible chords in the selected scale or the list of compatible scales for a selected chord.
The app helps you experience different chord progressions using our chord progression generator using relative or general chords and other chords related to music theory.
