However, there is a big problem: you have to wait for your turn to have your system updated with the latest version of Oxygen * (1) OS / Android ….
Well: from now on, the wait is over!
With Oxygen Updater, you will be among the first users to update your Oxygen OS device to the latest and greatest software version for free!
Oxygen Updater allows you to be the first to download and install new Oxygen OS updates directly*(2) on your device. Don’t wait any longer until you receive a system update notification after a few weeks, just update whenever a new update is released.
When a new update is available, you will receive a notification. You can then open the app to download and install *(2) your new system update.
Additionally, this app provides a brief overview of your device’s specifications, including your current Android and Oxygen OS version, amount of memory (RAM), security patch history, and your device’s processor. Also, important announcements regarding OnePlus and the app itself are posted in Oxygen Updater.
When you open Oxygen Updater for the first time, you will be asked to select your device and update method. These values are usually set to the correct values, but you can change them to your liking.
There are several ways to update:
Additional Updates: Additional updates are update packages intended to update a specific version of OxygenOS to a newer version. These updates are small to download but do not work on rooted devices or unlocked bootloaders. For most people, this is the recommended update method. If an additional package is not available for your specific version of OxygenOS, the app automatically offers a full package instead.
– Full Updates: Updates that also work on rooted and bootloader devices. However, these updates are too large to download (nearly 2 GB these days). It is only recommended if you have root access or have a device that is unlocked with a bootloader.
– Open Betas: Want to try out a newer program than most of the other people around you? Then you can also switch to (and update) the open beta of OxygenOS with this app. * (3). Open trial versions are available in full and incremental packages. These work the same as explained for the normal builds above.

*(2) Auto-update installation requires root access and TWRP restore. If you do not have root access, you will be prompted for a guide on how to install the update yourself. Even if you have root access, you can still choose to check the installation guide and install the update yourself.
*(3) Upgrading from standard OxygenOS to Open Beta requires Advanced Mode to be enabled, which is a free feature intended for advanced users only. Rolling back from an open beta to regular OxygenOS might not be possible with Oxygen Updater, but it *will erase* all the content on your phone. Think about that before moving on to the beta versions!
