[root] LiveBoot v1.86 Pro Mod

Latest

LiveBoot is a boot animation that shows you logcat and dmesg outputs on-screen as they happen. Output configuration includes logcat level, buffer and format selection; whether to show dmesg; the amount of lines that should fit on your screen, whether word-wrap should be employed, and if output should be color-coded. Additionally the background can be set to transparent to overlay the existing boot animation, which looks awesome during boot.

Description

LiveBoot is a boot animation that shows you logcat and dmesg output on screen as it goes. Output configuration includes logcat level, buffer, and format selection; whether to display dmesg; How many lines should fit on your screen, whether line wrapping should be used, and whether the output should be color coded. Also, the background can be set to transparent to overlay the boot animation, which looks great when booting.

Built-in functionality to test your current configuration without rebooting. The fonts displayed in test mode can be finite and relatively static, this does not reflect the exact behavior at boot time, but just shows you that it works and what the text size is.

Note that LiveBoot will only appear after installing the data partition. If you need to enter a decryption key or pattern on startup, it won’t appear until you do.

root •

Not only does this app require root, but it specifically requires SuperSU 2.40 or later, or a recent version of Magisk, due to how the start icon works. Instead, the app will try to work with other rooted firmware that supports init.d, but this is not officially supported and cannot be guaranteed to work.

Compatibility •

Officially the app supports 5.0+ and above. Regardless of the version, the app may or may not work on your device. I’ve had it work on a bunch of my own devices on multiple firmwares, but not at all. Even if the test function works, it does not necessarily mean that it will actually work during startup. Usually they do, but not always.

This also means that I cannot guarantee that it will continue to work – even if it works for you today, it may fail with the next firmware update. If this is a problem for you, you absolutely should not upgrade to Pro.

The risks of bootloops are very low, but not completely zero. If a boot loop occurs, deleting the app’s APK or /system/su.d/0000liveboot via recovery should resolve the issue.

Unless you are running SuperSU in systemless mode, the application writes to /system, as such your firmware should allow it. There is no recovery-based installation option at this time.

foreground •

There is an in-app purchase to upgrade to Pro which supports my developments and unlocks the transparency option as well as the logcat buffer and format selection.

Of course, if you have installed one of the paid variants of the old live animation or the live dmesg boot animation from all those years ago, that will also activate the Pro mode.

Like some of my other apps these days, if you don’t have Google Play but can still install the APK, that will also enable Pro mode.

Finally, if you don’t want to pay for it, there’s also a button to enable Pro Mode.

scenario •

If /system/su.d/0000liveboot.script or /su/su.d/0000liveboot.script is present (chmod 0644 , not 0700 like other files in /system/su.d/ or /su/su.d/ !), this script will run instead of logcat and dmesg, and its output will be white (stdout) and red (stderr).
