The game will take you back to when aviation was at the dawn of its existence – the Wright Brothers’ first machines were launched into the skies just 11 years before the Great War! Engineers were quickly adapting this brand new invention for military purposes while creating fascinating and sometimes bizarre airplanes.
In Warplanes: WW1 Sky Aces, you take control of over 30 historic aircraft, including the Fokker Dr.I, famous for its pilot Manfred von Richthofen aka “Red Baron”. Others range from light fighters like the Airco DH.2 to a massive 4-engine bomber like the Sikorsky Ilya Muromets – all planes can be customized and upgraded.
Choose between two modes to suit different play styles and skills. In pilot mode, you can just focus on air combat, collecting and upgrading planes. Squadron Leader mode adds an extra layer to the gameplay – outside of combat you also need to manage resources, hire and train pilots, and expand your base.
Two campaigns for the Triple Entente and one for the Central Powers will allow you to experience all the major fronts of WWI – you will fly over most of the countries that participated in the conflict in various types of missions. Fighter pilots and bombers. Protect or destroy targets on the ground. Face off against powerful Zeppelins and anti-aircraft artillery to change the tide of the war.
